The Kalu’ak
· Ivory-Reinforced Chestguard is another solid, if unremarkable, piece which will allow you to add some defense rating and threat stats to a slot. I’d prefer the defense rating be higher, but it’s clearly intended for tanking while leveling to 80 and should work well for that role.
· The Whalebone Carapace is yet more DPS plate with no hit and more stamina than I’d like.
The Wyrmrest Accord
· The Wrymrest Accord are very nice to tanks. They offer the Cloak of Peaceful Resolutions, with a nice chunk of stats a tank might want to start with.
· They follow this up with the Fang of Truth. Also probably a solid rogue weapon, it has a nice speed if you’re still looking to spam Heroic Strike while tanking, Agility to add to armor, Stamina and hit rating. While there are definitely better tanking weapons this is a no brainer when you hit honored.
· At revered you’ll be picking up the Breastplate of the Solemn

New achievements and mount rewards in beta build 8962
Like most Wrath beta patches, build 8962 comes packing new achievements. This patch doesn’t have a massive list like some previous builds, but what it does have is pretty cool:
· Leading the Cavalry – Obtain 75 mounts, be rewarded with an Albino Drake.
· For the Alliance! – Slay the leaders of the Horde, be rewarded with a Black War Bear.
· For the Horde! – Slay the leaders of the Alliance, be rewarded with a Black War Bear.

Ghostcrawler’s late night Paladin news
Ghostcrawler displays her dedication yet again as she popped up on a few of the Wrath of the Lich King Beta forums in the wee hours of the morning today. Or would that be late last night? What does 2 AM qualify as, again? Anyway! Ghostcrawler popped into the Paladin forums to check in with some concerned players, and brought some fun news. She says herself that it may not be 100% what Paladins want, but it should prove to be good stuff regardless. Let’s dig right into it, shall we?
From Ghostcrawler:
· We’d like to do something else with Kings. I don’t know that a core ability is the answer, but burying it deep in Prot, when Prot paladins would just as soon play with BoSanc, doesn’t feel great either.
· We’d like to mess around with the top 2 tiers of all 3 trees, still encouraging you to cross-spec a little, but making that initial bite into the upper tier more tasty instead of just an icky appetizer to get the what you really want down deeper
· I think Beacon of Light is starting to feel pretty good. It

Koraa chats about Priests
We’re a little miffed about recent priest changes here at WoW Insider. Both Holy and Shadow were worked over pretty well with the nerf bat in build 8926. Fortunately, Koraa (class designer) has announced some upcoming changes that are, for the most part, buffs, and that show that they’re definitely thinking about the class. Let’s see what’s behind the curtain.
· Holy:
· Holy Concentration will “scale with spell crit instead of just a flat %.” I read this as meaning that instead of being a 6% chance to gain HC, the chance will be some fraction of your Holy crit chance. But why not just make it a 50% (or whatever) chance on heal crit?
· Divine Hymn now has an HoT in addition to the CC. This makes it more obviously a clutch spell, and I think it will be handy.
· Blessed Recovery is getting buffed to “roll”

What prompted you to sell your house, pack up and fly out?
I wanted to see the world. I have always enjoyed traveling and learning about places, and this was the opportunity of a lifetime. Everyone always talks about going out to see the world. I actually went and did it. I have no regrets, whatsoever. Also, selling my house before the market took a dive is looking like a good move in hindsight.
I’ve been traveling now since March of 2007, so around 17 months. In that time, I’ve been to over 40 countries and territories, some of which most people have never heard of, let alone visit: Nauru, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Kiribati, Micronesia, Palau, Easter Island and the Marshall Islands.
I get e-mails every few days from people who find my website and say, “I’m so jealous. You are doing exactly what I want to do.” Every day is a new adventure. You get to see places in a way which you never possibly could just watching TV or reading the news.

New tailoring recipes discovered in Wrath Beta files
MMO-Champion has just discovered 3 interesting new tailoring patterns in the Wrath Beta files. Rather than things you can sell, however, these are soulbound cloak embroideries, and at least at first glance, they seem very nice indeed.
· Lightweave Embroidery: Embroiders a subtle pattern of light into your cloak, giving you a chance to cause an additional 800 to 1000 Holy damage when you damage an enemy with a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound.
· Darkglow Embroidery: Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, giving you a chance to restore 300 mana when you cast a spell. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound.
· Swordguard Embroidery: Embroiders a magical pattern into your cloak, causing your damaging melee attacks to sometimes ignore 1000 of your target’s armor. You can only embroider your own cloak and embroidering your cloak will cause it to become soulbound.
There’s no word as of

The Light and How to Swing It: The shocking truth in Beta
Paladins rock in Beta. There are a whole slew of abilities and talents that make life a whole lot easier and a lot more fun. One popular request on the comments has been to test drive the new Wrath Shockadin, with improvements like a 6 second Holy Shock and ranged judgements from Enlightened Judgements, it really does seem like the spec has finally come into its own.
Of course, what looks good on paper doesn’t necessarily translate into actual gameplay. With the reshuffle of talents and the consolidation of spell and melee crit, what used to be a fringe off-spec with a loyal following might actually turn into the spec of choice… for healing Paladins. Before anything, though, let’s make one thing clear — this is Beta, so everything we’ll be taking a look at today might (and is likely to) change by the time Wrath of the Lich King is live.
Paladins fighting at range
One of the two biggest changes that shake up the Shockadin spec is Enlightened Judgements, which allows ranged Judgements. This is huge. Gahzrilla-huge. King Mukla-huge. This ninth tier Holy talent finally gives Paladins a ranged attack, extending the reach of Judgements to 30 yards. Combined with the tenth tier Judgements of

RoleCraft: Instanced Roleplaying
Follow along with me as I describe this all-too-common event that seems to have taken root amongst many MMORPG roleplayers. Characters team together to venture forth into a dangerous local dungeon, or instance, as they are perhaps better known now. All in character, the group meets in town, gathers supplies, mounts up, and rides off to the location. They know each other well enough to be comfortable with each other’s play and RP style, so the conversation goes smoothly during the ride. Dismounting at the instance entrance, last minute instructions and buffs are shared, and drawing their weapons, the group charges forth with their clan / house RP warcries , bravely and boldly crossing the threshold into the instance. Once inside, and for the entire time it takes until they exit, not a single hint of RP is executed by any of them. It’s as if the instance entrance has an ‘RP block’ on, instantly denying players who enter in the ability to roleplay. In case some may not be aware, this is simply not the case. Which brings up the question, what gives?
Hear me now and believe me later, there is no reason why roleplayers cannot and should not engage in the same high quality RP within an instance as without. Personally, I’m

Sean McDonnell looks at lender websites and how brokers should make the most of the features on offer
Mortgage lenders websites are strictly for business, but could you also have fun using them? Well, maybe fun is too strong a word, but if you look objectively at what has been going on for the past year or so, there have been some enormous strides in development.
We tend to take our favourite websites for granted. We use them to check travel times, book tickets and catch with the latest news, but often don’t look beyond the booking facility, for example, at the other content.
Many intermediaries will use lenders’ websites on a daily basis and will want to log on, process applications and track cases. Most will be focused on getting the job done as quickly as possible. The commonplace adoption of straight-through processing has been revolutionary – and continues to gather pace as the arrival of same-day offers shows.
But, there is huge amount of additional functionality which is pretty exciting too. Clever innovation is designed to make the whole experience of working with a lender online a lot more personal and in many cases is useful beyond arranging a specific deal.
Previously, many sites were ‘welcome doormats’. Intermediaries would ignore much of the content and
