DK gear/flying bone chickens..
I’m very sorry if this has been brought up too many times-but it seems like there is a great deal of upheaval when concerning the DK’s gear in the community.
I personally feel like when I get to Outland, I have to take off the gorgeous gear that we are given to start with and replace it with a steely hodgepodge of suck.
Are we doomed to waiting for tier armor we have to compete for?
The DKs are incredible in so many ways. It just seems like a damned shame every time I have to replace a piece of armor with something that was designed for two entirely different classes.
Now, I’m not complaining-it just seems like a waste to stick us in gear other classes will have. I also feel it will be aesthetically displeasing to many; people love their aesthetics!
Just wondering if Blizz has something in store for this that I don’t know about.
Also: I am terribly curious. Are the skeletal gryphons’ model a placeholder? Oh god, I hope so…How the hell is a Tauren going to ride that poor, poor chicken/shoehorn? I’m all for the physically impossible-but it might as well look good, and hopefully more frightening. Wyverns are about 10,000x more intimidating than those tharr chikinz.
Thanks for

Preparations on Live for WotLK
Just curious, but would anyone like to share what preparations you are doing on your live servers to help prepare for Wrath of the Lich King? Playing through beta, is there anything you wish you could do differently on live before you copied over?
How about leveling your professions in beta: Is there any items you know you wish you had certainly much more of? Or are there items that you feel don’t need to be hoarded for the expansion?
Feel free to expand on the topic, I’m just thinking aloud, and wondering what many of you are doing to prepare yourselves for the new war ahead.
For me, I am mostly hoarding gold. Making sure I do my dailies (Even though I want to rip my hair out). I’m trying to sell many things now whose value I think will plummet in the expansion (or even 3.0). I’m certainly more active on my herbalist, trying to see if I will either use the herbs I get to level inscription on a character, or even to gouge for more gold for others who plan on leveling inscription
What are your plans?

Allow a “gathering” profession
At present you can select two primary professions
You can also take three secondary professions: Fishing, First Aid, and Cooking
My proposal is to also be allowed 1(one) gathering profession, in addition to the professions mentioned above. Gathering professions to choose from are: Mining, Herbalism, Skinning
Basically this would mean you wouldn’t feel obligated to force your alts to be your gatherers. It would also ensure you aren’t “gimping” your main by taking a gathering profession. I know there are minor buffs in the works for people that take gathering professions. Why not let that stack with your two main professions?
Players that already have two gathering professions would be grandfathered in and able to retain their two gathering professions if they like. They would simply be allowed to take an additional main profession.

World Server Down
The Northrend server is on a completely new Server thing. The only thing I can say is to just deal with it. It’s going to happen, and will happen more often in the future, and more frequently, but I must add that in the past it was twice as worse as what everyone has been experiencing. This post is from Customer Service talking about Server Stability.
I think your statement that the realms are down more than they’re up is hyperbole at best. I play on the beta very regularly and while I’ve definitely had sporadic interruptions while questing I haven’t experienced it anywhere near what you’re saying–and we’re on the same realm. What you’ve been experiencing is the world server being down for Northrend, not the entire server. Instances are uninterrupted by this, as are Outland, Kalimdor, and Azeroth proper.
If I had to hazard a guess, not being a DBA or a server tech, I would imagine that the week has been spent hunting down the reasons for crashes beyond this being a significantly larger population than the Alpha test and the fact that Northrend is its own new world server. This isn’t any small thing.
The reason why this test exists is to nail down broad and specific stability issues as well as

Polar Bear Mount is live and Bind on Account
If you were lucky enough to get your hands on the Polar Bear Mount loot card from BlizzCon this year (either via attending the con or through DirecTV), then you’re in for some happiness tonight if you redeem it.
The redemption now works. You can go to and fill out the forum there to get your prize all setup. Take the code that’s given to you and head to Ransin Donner in the Forlorn Cavern in Ironforge – not the guy in STV like the page says. Turn in the code to Ransin and you’ll be presented with a Bind on Account Polar Bear Mount!
Yes – Bind on Account! That means you can use the mount on any of your characters on the same account. Very cool for those of us with tons of alts.
Take a look at the gallery below for what the polar bear mount looks like. You’ll probably see a few of these pop up over the next few days in your travels around Azeroth.

Bejeweled 1.02 is out
The most important addon of all has been updated to version 1.02 for compatibility with patch 3.0.2: PopCap’s Bejeweled has a new version ready for download on their site that will work just great with the new patch. And there’s a new feature, too: PopCap says so many people asked for a little minimap relief that they’ve added an option to either turn the minimap icon off completely, or move it around the minimap wherever you like.
Unfortunately, the endgame got nerfed so much that odds are you won’t die in raids until Wrath, so that part of the addon probably won’t get used much. But my flight paths have felt empty without the gems to match since Tuesday — the new version of Bejeweled is the most welcome addition to my addon folder.

One way to lessen the overpopulation of DKs
I’d like to preface my post by saying I thoroughly enjoy this new class. Having played the game since release I can say it’s very interesting and a nice change of pace. My thoughts before playing in beta were along the lines of, “Deathknight looks really cool, but everyone and their mother is going to roll one so I’m going to avoid it and play the classes I have now.”
After having done the DK starter quests / zone, seeing all the new abilities and the new gameplay mechanics, I am very much considering making Deathknight my main when WotLK drops. If I was a hardcore skeptic coming into this, I fear everyone will succumb to the Deathknight when the game launches. Why exactly have I fallen victim to it?
1. The idea of being a hybrid between a Warrior and Necromancer is extremely appealing from an RP and playstyle standpoint. Obviously the Lich King storyline is the most popular one in Warcraft lore as well.
2. WoW has been out for 3 years and this is the only new class with new abilities and mechanics to come out. Most every serious player who has been playing since launch has tried every class. Just playing something new is refreshing.
I understand that new classes take an extremely

Quest NPC Interplay in DK Zone
Death Knight Quest Text Spoiler
First and foremost: Congratulations on a job well done! The Death Knight experience was amazing and I think everyone is going to thoroughly enjoy it.
This post is in regards to the quest interplay exhibited by the Death Knight starting zone, specifically in regards to NPCs. As an agent of destruction you are tasked with obliterating the Scarlet presence in the hills below Ebon Hold. But, you are also struggling internally to make amends between the person you were before (a fallen champion) and the Death Knight you have now become (a harbinger of the apocalypse). And, you (Blizzard) have done an excellent job in illustrating this moral and ethical conundrum by way of Quest NPC interaction that engrosses the player, not as a class, but as a person. And, changes the static formula of “player plays environment,” to “player engages environment.”
This is seen both through quest text, but also the dynamic way the environment is literally altered due to the chaos you reaped in previous quests.
But, what I enjoyed most was the moral struggles that you, as a player, have to cope with in regards to the innocents that are lost. The Peasants and Citizens literally cower and scream

BlizzCon 2008: The Art Gallery
It’s not the flashiest place at BlizzCon — until you step inside. While the gameplay demo areas and the developer panels have claimed most of the attention here at the convention, there are a few hidden treasures inside the booths, one of which is the Blizzard art gallery. The art inside spans across all of Blizzard’s games, and though their games are beautiful, the art used in designing them is even moreso.
Check out the gallery below to see what’s in BlizzCon’s art gallery — from the Barbarian brutes of Diablo to the frozen tundra of Northrend and the starscapes of Starcraft, here is Blizzard’s creativity and design mastery put into form on the wall. Whether it’s concept art, quick sketches or full paintings, it’s really amazing stuff.

Addon Spotlight: OSX Me Up
Yes, you read that name right. I’ll be doing Addon Spotlight while Sean is away for a little while. Don’t worry though as The Creamy GUI Center will still be around for all your in depth addon needs, and I’ll do my best to keep Addon Spotlight’s tone and feel as close to Sean’s as possible. Today in the spotlight is a duet of addons inspired by Apple OSX. Apple has always had a polished interface, with all sorts of options added with a graphical flare that sets it apart from others. Let’s see if we can spice up our WoW UI with dock and dashboard addons that hope to bring some of that flare to WoW.
With so many addons and user interface elements taking up screen real estate, many players are stuck wishing they had a bigger monitor as they try to make room for them all. Today’s Addon Spotlight features two addons that each offer unique ways to deal with this problem.
Dock
Dock is an addon that tries to replicate the dock found in Mac OSX. For Windows users who might not be familiar with the dock, you can check out how it works and see if it might be beneficial to you by trying the excellent freeware program Rocket Dock. Basically the dock acts as a program launcher, but with some nice eye candy thrown in. As
